My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola! My name is COPITO. I am a sweet, shy, and calm girl. I was rescued, with my sister, where I was found in a box by a garbage dump. I feel happy and lucky we were saved. I have been in Canada now for over a month, and I am liking my new life and loving my Foster Family. I must admit the cold and snow was a bit of a surprise, but I am adjusting – I just need a nice warm coat! I enjoy running and playing in it the snow with my foster sibling.

I am still very young and have a lot to learn. I love to cuddle so have lots of love to give to a family. During the day I will sleep on the couch and in my dog bed at night. I even sleep through the night, too. I am very timid at first when I meet new people and places -- and may bark a little, but I eventually warm up when I know all is good. I do bark when I sense people approaching the house but settle quickly. Bonus, I am house trained. I am wearing a harness for my walks which I very much enjoy, and my progress on a leash continues to improve. I love treats so when I go for positive reinforcement training, it will help me learn. Currently, my Foster Mom says I am low to medium energy but that might change as I continue to adjust to new environment. I am medium shedding.

I get along with other dogs and my foster sister dog is helping me so much. I was also with other dogs in the Shelter, and I was good girl. I do need to have another dog in the home to help me continue to gain confidence plus I enjoy having a canine companion with me. I don’t believe I would like to live with cats. I would not do well in a condo as my Foster Mom believes I would be too scared of any unfamiliar noises especially having to go in an elevator. I need a fully fenced in backyard to run around. I haven’t been left alone (maybe for a half-hour). I do miss my family when they are gone and can be vocal, so my Foster Mom is not sure how I will be if you are gone for long periods – if you are home most of the time, we think that would be ideal for me for now (I just need more time to adjust). I am shy and timid, so young children may not be best right now so a home with children older than 10 is OK. I’m going to need a family who is experienced and understand I am little nervous around new things, so you are going to have to give me patience and time – I know I am going to blossom soon!

Here is what my Foster Mom says about me: “Copito is a very shy girl, but she is gradually learning to trust her foster family. She has started to explore the house and has found the couch and comfy chair to her liking. She enjoys interacting with Lily the other dog in the house and is learning the ropes from her. So far Copito has only ventured into the backyard, with encouragement. I have come a long way in being comfortable going into the backyard and am happy to go on walks now. She has some fun in the snow and is getting used to the colder temperatures. She does her business outside without issue. Her crate is available for her anytime as she can retreat there if she is startled or anxious but rarely uses it at all. During the day she spends with her foster mom in the office on a cushion having naps. She is never far from her humans and loves the security of knowing you are close by. Copito will be a cherished member of her new family as she is so loving and sweet – you need to give her the time, love and patience to help her in this new world.”

How do I sound so far? If you are interested, please feel out an application for me as I’m looking forward to meeting you. I hope I will find my forever family soon so please find room in your heart for me.

Love Copito, XOXO
