Meet Ives! This smooth coated kid with the twinkling eyes came into WBCR with his brother, Currier, right around Christmastime from a crowded Idaho shelter. Although we think they didn’t get much attention in their former life, Ives has really settled into life in a home and we’re not sure what is cuter – his winning smile or his endearing personality!
Ives has blossomed into one super friendly people pup! He loves to say ‘hello’ to everyone and anyone enjoys cuddling and snuggling. He is a little more tentative with new dogs, but once he knows them, the game is on and yes, he loves to play! While Ives will certainly chase the cat, he also will play and wrestle with the feline in his foster home, so we think he could live with a dog-savvy cat. He loves to jump over things and go for walks and play with his big ball, and shows potential to be a fetcher. He’s not shaping up to be a super high energy fella, however, and should be content in a home that can provide him with a reasonable, moderate amount of exercise. Like a lot of pups his age, Ives is mouthy when excited, so will not be placed in a home with small children. He’s also still quite a chewer – no surprise there as he’s only 7 months old! Ives also shows a real interest in chasing cars, so will need a home where he can be trained to cope with and kept safe from such vehicular temptations.
That shouldn’t be too hard, however, as Ives is proving himself to be the teacher's pet!! Ives is very bright and also very food motivated - a great combination for training - and has been very quick to pick up his lessons. He LOVES hanging out in his crate. He’s also housetrained, and has moved on to learning some of the basics. He comes pretty well when called and is learning to call off of things…he is also learning to calm down when the playing gets too rambunctious. Ives will need an adopter who will continue to work with him on the basics as well as build his confidence and set guidelines for him to feel safe and able to predict things.
A great personality – and looks, too? You betcha! This smiling fool is just adorable, from the little white snip on his nose down to the little white tips of his toes. With a thick, luxurious, glossy smooth coat and expressive ears, Ives is 100% irresistible!! This sweet agreeable tyke is sure to shape up to be a wonderful and loving companion. Ives will do best with an adopter willing to devote some energy to raising him well, who will continue with his education and exposure to the world. Ives would probably enjoy a forever home where there is a confident and playful dog to be his doggy pal, and an adopter who likes to go for walks, play ball, and snuggle would be perfect!
