My story

Can I tell you a secret? I once heard my owners say I was the most handsome Pit Bull they had ever seen. That made me feel good because my first owners abused me before I went to a shelter. I love to play with everyone in the family. Even the toddler is trusted with me. My favorite is keep-away, tug-of-war and going for walks.

I spend my days in the backyard but when I was first rescued from the shelter a couple of years ago I lived inside. I still think I belong inside and run inside every time the door is left open. At night I sleep in a kennel in the garage. I've learned to wait for permission before eating and was recently trained to shake, lie down, and sit. I love being trained and it's so easy for me to learn new tricks!

Whenever I see a cat or small animal I get so excited and have an uncontrollable urge to chase it, so it's best that I don't go to a home with cats or rabbits. I do hope they find a place that has room to run and where I will have play time with humans!

Kuyper is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.
