Sweet & goofy girl, Nia! Volunteers love taking her out because she’s guaranteed to make you laugh and give you the sweetest kisses. She loves to roll around on the couch & dog beds and in her true goofy fashion, sometimes she rolls right off of the couch! But she pops right back and gets right back into her puzzles, getting pets (she’ll plop herself right between your legs for some!), or maybe even some more rolls. A volunteer took Nia on an outing and discovered that Nia absolutely loved exploring new areas - she’d be an amazing walking/trail/adventure buddy. Come meet sweet girl Nia today!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
