My mother died earlier this year. She left us a very cute little dog that is a bit shy. Bella is 11 years old and has spent the last 8 years living with a bigger dog and they seemed to get along pretty well, but the bigger pup commanded all the attention.
She had access to a doggie door for awhile... Living in an apartment now, I am trying to teach her to go outside but there are still accidents at late evening and early morning.
She responds to positive feedback (of course) and she loves her treats. I've been using chew sticks and treats for encouragement. I have to stress that I have a basic understanding of what it takes to train a dog. She was house trained as a pup, but for some time, as I said before, she has had access to the back yard full time.
She has taken to the leash rather well and is easy to walk... Bella didn't take too many walks over the past few years.
Bella currently weighs 16lbs; which is down from 18lbs. She is current on her shots and heart worm negative.
