GREENVILLE, SC - Lucerne (but family calls her "Lucy") - 3 YEAR OLD FEMALE BROWN/WHITE PURE BRED NEWFOUNDLAND NEEDS A NEW HOME. FREE TO AN AMAZINGLY LOVING HOME THAT HAS EXPERIENCE. She is spayed and UTD on shots. She is also on trifexis. This girl keeps lunging at the children and family feels she must go to a home that has no children under 13 yrs old. She has never bit anyone....but they are fearful it is only a matter of time with the kids running around, playing, yelling.... (typical fun-loving kids' stuff). Also, although she at the doggie daycare is fine per the staff, she keeps starting fights with the other dogs in the home too. Essentially, this gal needs an experienced home without any little ones nor dogs. She lives well with the family cat. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU WILL NOT FURTHER TRAIN, EXERCISE (as in walks/hikes etc.). Opening up your backyard door and letting a dog outside IS NOT EXERCISE. Also, clearly she needs to exercise her fine mind. Willing to train or treat tricks will be great for this gal. She is healthy, loving and smart and deserves a home that will properly care for her and make her part of the family. The one video is of her getting excited for going outside/her walk. THIS BELOW IS A BIO FROM THE OWNER: This is Lucerne (Lucy). She is 3 years old and looking for a new home with no other dogs and no children. She is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet, and sassy to boot with the biggest personality. She is incredibly loving and just wants to lay next to you all day and demand chest scratches and ear rubs. She will sleep on the floor next to your bed at night (or on the coldest tile she can find in the summer). She’ll make Chewbacca noises or a sassy “woo-woo” to let you know it’s dinnertime or when she needs to go outside. She is pretty sure she’s a lap dog even at over 100 lbs and loves to be on the couch with you/on you, but will begrudgingly follow the “off” command when instructed to get off the furniture. She is house trained and crate trained (her XXL crate will go with her to her adoptive family). Because she was poorly bred, she unfortunately has unpredictable aggression towards my older dog that training hasn’t helped. She injured him pretty badly on Saturday and got some minor wounds herself. It’s now escalated to a point that it’s not safe for them to live together any longer. She would be an amazing dog for a single person or couple without any kids. I’ve reached out to her breeder already with no response, and the Newf rescue is not able to place her due to her aggression towards children. She has never bitten a human, but she cannot be trusted around kids given her behavior whenever she’s seen little ones running around. She is muzzle trained for instances where she needs to leave the house. Please PM me if you are interested in adopting my sweet baby. I would like to do a home visit if possible. Thank you all in advance for being kind, understanding that this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and not making me feel any worse than I already do. I truly have tried everything I possibly can, and this is not a decision I’ve come to lightly.
