My story

Mercy was a surprise to the volunteer feeding a group of community cats in the city of Poughkeepsie. She was trapped and brought to the vet - another surprise was when she was so sweet! She is quite talkative and charming. This little lady would be a lovely addition to a moderately quiet home.

Mercy does enjoy a warm lap and a kind heart. She's a gentle girl that would do well in a quiet home.

We estimate her to be approximately 2 to 2&1/2 years old. Mercy comes from a neighborhood where Stray H.E.L.P. volunteers feed community cats. With the effort of Stray H.E.L.P. volunteers and the caretaker many cats are getting spayed or neutered to help diminish the numbers of cats living on the streets.

Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworm. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination.

An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. You can download it from HERE OR directly ONLINE If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program visit us on FaceBook.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and care for stray and homeless animals while providing humane education to the community.
We work with members of the community to help cats in need. We conduct trap/neuter/return and place projects and train home and business owners on how to properly care for free roaming cats on their property and in their neighborhoods.
We focus in southern Dutchess County, but help people throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties by connecting them with local rescues that can work with them, loaning equipment, coordinating spay/neuter clinics and offering guidance.
