Hi, I'm Cameron! My foster mom says I have been a joy to have in her home and a perfect gentleman with her and her 2 miniature Poodle mix pups. I caught onto our home routine right away and, boy howdy, do I love the food and treats that they served. I enjoy all the attention I can get. I have not had an accident indoors or in my kennel (zero)! When we go outside, I know exactly what to do and love to please my humans. I am such a good boy!! I am sweet and gentle, low-key and calm, and not much of a barker. I enjoy hanging out and being close to my family and other dogs too. I just want time to realize that I am safe with respectful dogs. I have exhibited some resource guarding traits, so no small kids in the home for me.

I excel at loose leash walking and enjoy taking strolls. I love car rides, even if it is a quick trip to the vet! My foster mom says that I am so simple and easy - she calls me a "plug and play" pup! I promise to be the best friend ever!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Your application simply shows that you are interested in an animal; it is not a binding contract.

2.

Interview

Your chosen animal’s foster family will review your application and reach out to you to answer questions and/or schedule a meet and greet.

3.

Meet the Pet

This meeting could take place at an adoption event, a neutral location, the foster’s home, or your home.

4.

Sign Adoption Contract

An Applications team member will send the electronic adoption contract to you to be signed. They will also request adoption fee payment.

5.

Take the Pet Home

You will receive an adoption confirmation email when all applicable documentation is signed and completed.

If both parties (the foster family and adoptive family) decide to move forward with an adoption after a meet and greet, a visit of your home may be conducted virtually or in-person by either the foster family or one of our designated volunteers. This visit is set up to ensure the safety of our foster animals. At the same time, a veterinary check will be done (if applicable) to ensure your current pets are up-to-date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and have been tested for any transmittable illnesses, such as FeLV/FIV.

Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit companion animal rescue that primarily serves communities throughout the state of Minnesota, as well as states in the south with severe pet overpopulation. We rescue stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats as well as ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other critters. Most of our work is accomplished by a complex network of volunteers, fosters, and supporters, all of whom come together to save thousands of animals each year. Since our inception, we’ve firmly believed that a home is usually a far more desirable environment than a shelter or a kennel for most companion animals in need of a forever family. As a result, we rely nearly exclusively on volunteers to provide foster homes for rescued pets until they find their adoptive homes. Please note: this means no animals are available at our facility for public viewing. Each pet in our care is provided with routine vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, microchipped, given internal and external parasite preventatives, and tested for common bloodborne pathogens such as heartworm and feline leukemia. Advanced veterinary care is provided to any animal that requires such services before adoption.
