My story

UPDATE: We are working with a professional trainer to provide assistance for Rocky. He is not available for adoption at this time.

Meet Rocky! This handsome boy was one of two dogs that transferred to us from Behavior Center at the San Diego Humane Society for his extreme shyness.
While he enjoyed being with his new furry friends, he needed time and space to get used to the staff. Once we got on trusted terms with him, Rocky went from complete avoidance to flinging his sturdy body at us in excitement!
Rocky loves to run and show off his Basset Hound bark when playing tag with his friends, and it's so good to see him enjoying his new lease on life!
He is looking for a loving and patient home who will be understanding of his shyness of new people and new situations so that he can feel safe and be himself!

Regarding COVID-19: CDC Guidelines will be in place for all appointments and home checks.

Why adoption is a great option

Rocky, a El Cajon Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in El Cajon, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in El Cajon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Cajon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Cajon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Cajon paves the way for another one to be saved.
