My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Well I hope everyone had a nice Christmas I sure did my foster mom got me a big green loofa dog and a candy cane shaped rawhide to chew on. That loofa dog sure is fun I can whip it around and whack everyone with it. The other dogs clear the room when I get my new toy out to play with, they just don't appreciate my exuberance. What a beautiful day today the sun was shining and everybody went outside to play. Everybody except me that is, I hate going out of the fenced in area in my yard my foster mom says I am a big chicken but I am just afraid that I will wonder to far and get lost. I like it here but would really love a home of my own. I would love a couple of kids to wrestle and run with and who aren't afraid to get hugged and kissed by me as I love to wrap my body around you when you get down to my level like a great big hug. I also like putting my head on your shoulder. An adult that likes to jog or go for long walks would be nice to.

Born around the first of May 2009 Boomer is a young energetic and very curious young pup. He is probably mixed with a lab but takes more after the Border collie side of the family. He is eager to please and loves to spend time with people as well as other dogs. He is still unsure of the world around him at times but with a little encouragement he likes to try new things. He is good with kids of all ages and also with cats. He loves wrestling with the other dogs at his foster home and pulling all the toys out of the toy box and throwing them around the living room much to his foster mom’s dismay. Recently he has decided that the vacuum is evil and must be vanquished so every time I get it out he tries to drag it away and barks at it with gusto. It’s hard to clean with a dog attached to my vacuum but it sure is funny.

He was recently dewormed and is now neutered so a few day of recovery and he should be just fine. Due to his infestation he is very underweight. When I took him in to be neutered he weighed only 38 pounds and he should weigh around 45 to 50 pounds when fully filled out. Boomer needs another dog to help him learn the ropes of living with a family and a fenced in yard as he likes to be outside most of the time. He is not much of a barker but he loves to be on the move. He settles nicely in the house after a short period of quiet time but only if he has had enough exercise throughout the day. He is not 100% on his house training but we have not had an accident in over a week. However he does pee in his kennel if we don’t let him out immediately in the morning. He usually gives a single bark followed by a pause and then another bark if he can’t wait any longer.

Boomer is roughly 7 months old about 21" at the front shoulder and a very active puppy is he. He is either sound asleep or running around the yard/house throwing his toys up in the air or wrestling with whom ever he can. He was kind of shy at first but has quickly outgrown that and is very comfortable with everyone both fury and non fury.

We are working on his house training but he is being difficult about it and doesn't tell us when he needs to go just squats and goes. Even when I take him out every hour he still has accidents :(. He is horrible on a leash and I am hoping to get a gentle leader harness to help correct this problem. So far he does not chew on anything he shouldn't except my shoes and slippers and only mine nobody elses. I guess he just loves me best;0.

He has settled into the routine here and is good about going into his crate when it's time for bed or if I have to leave for a period of time with no one in the house to watch him. Sometimes he even just lays in his crate when we are all in the house hanging out.

He is good with kids, cats and other dogs and would do best in an active home with another dog that likes to wrestle as that is his favorite thing to do. He has an appointment to be neutered on December 8, 2009 and will be available for adoption after that.
