Many of you who follow us on social media remember the Christmas Crew from December 2021. These five shih tzus came from sad neglect in an overcrowded home. They were all extremely scared, matted, and emaciated. The good news is that Rudolph, Holly, and Eggnog are now pending adoption. The great news is that Mistletoe and her brother Scrooge are still waiting to find their perfect fur-ever home, and it could be you!
They are all littermates estimated 3-4 years with puppy energy, very sweet, playful, medium energy, and timid yet cuddly. Scrooge is 7lbs and Mistletoe is 6lbs, each having gained a full 2lbs since joining Canine Estates! Everyone is healthy and happy, and are up to date on vaccines, bloodwork, microchipped, spay/neuters, and recent dentals. Scrooge has low-grade heart murmur that do not require medication, and is otherwise healthy.
Due to their history, they are not potty trained in the slightest and will all require some consistency and patience, in combination with belly bands/diapers until they learn that pottying outside is a good thing! They are also not leash-trained and will need confidence and acclimation to their harnesses. They are well socialized with other dogs and are super friendly with people but definitely need some exposure and experience with all that life has to offer. They also came from a house of 18 cats and will be fine in a feline-friendly home. Due to their timid nature, we are hesitant to place them in a home with children, but a respectful, quiet older child would be fine.
Mistletoe and Scrooge need to go to a home together, or a home with another similarly-tempered dog in the house. We are giving priority to applicants who will take both as well as applicants who understand housetraining and leash training is in their future. A fenced yard is also a plus.
