My story

**This dog is being fostered on Vancouver island but can be transported to the mainland. Apply to adopt here: lastminutedogrescue.com

Until she came into rescue during the big freeze of Feb 2020, Justine lived on the periphery of human society and survived by avoiding being caught. Her fear of people runs deep, and its been very exciting and satisfying to see her slowly opening up to the good life of a beloved pet. You can tell she was never abused but was simply feral, and had no experience with people at all. Her whole body trembled non-stop at the end of a leash....but now, she's the most affectionate cuddlebug you could dream up, ALWAYS happy to be pulled into your arms for a hug and snuggles. She can't get enough affection, from both humans and dogs. Her tail wags constantly.

Justy is delighted by her life of safety, comfort, play and adventure with her foster dog pack. This is simply the happiest, most grateful rescue dog you've ever seen, waking up in the morning with a huge smile of love on her face. You can see the joy in her as she bounds across the yard looking for mice. In spite of still having a bit of wildness to her, she's housebroken, crate-trained, not bad on a leash and all-around adorable sweetie. She loves going in the car and is crazy about going on off-leash forest adventures, where she comes when she's called almost all the time! Justy's never found a body of water she hasn't wanted to jump into, even if it was just mud. She even loves rolling in snow.

Having been feral her whole life, Justine is most comfortable in the company of other dogs. She's deeply attached to her foster siblings, especially Corbin, so if they aren't adopted together, she will need a new pack that will welcome her loving, affectionate and playful ways.

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

People can submit an adoption application

2.

Interview

First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant

3.

Home Check

Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up

4.

Meet the Pet

If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match

5.

Approve Application

we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.

7.

Pay Fee

They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.

Additional adoption info

No other additional information. Some of our dogs are adopted as soon as they come up on a "foster-to-adopt" trial period to ensure the perfect match.

More about this rescue
