My story

Lamar is a male rabbit who came in with a family of rabbits that are highly inbred and thus lacks genetic integrity. His family has been riddled with congenital problems. So he may not live a full life but we would appreciate if someone would adopt him anyway. Nevertheless, they should be prepared to give him the best possible life. He has not been vaccinated yet. All our rabbits are on the schedule for that. Our veterinarian is backed up.

Additional adoption info

We require a veterinary reference and an adoption application filled out correctly and thoughtfully. See the FAQ section on our site for information on how to adopt. Our adoption fees vary from $50-100 depending on how long rabbit has been in foster, male or female. We have an ADOPTION APPLICATION and ADOPTION CONTRACT, home visit, and extensive education process for first time rabbit adopters since so much contradictory rabbit care information can be found online. Our website attempts to provide all the information an adopter will need for the lifetime of the rabbit. We have housing requirements as well, must be indoor pets and the habitat inside the house must be satisfactory. We have an extensive section on our website about this. Taking rabbit to a qualified exotics veterinarian is paramount.

Go meet their pets

As rabbits are prey animals who suffer great stress from change and transition in their lives, our adoption events are for approved adopters only. Bunny matches (rabbit introductions) are arranged as needed. We encourage all rabbit caretakers to keep more than one rabbit as a single rabbit spending many hours a day alone is a sad life for a highly social animal.

More about this rescue

We work to promote the viewpoint that all animals have an intrinsic value independent of what value humans may place upon them, they have a will-to-be. Our work is based on the Reverence for Life philosophy of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize winner 1952, for this philosophy which became the basis for the work of all rescue groups. We help animals and promote their viewpoint because it needs to be done. We are a small group of people who believe that every animal's life is valued by that animal so we rescue rabbits that would otherwise be destroyed or not taken in by any other rescue group. Our goal is to take the plain, the ordinary, and the unpopular colorings and raise awareness of their sentience as equal to the fancy rabbits who do manage to find homes the second time around.
