My story

My name is Hope! My story didn’t start out so great, but now Im here.   I was found on the side of a highway with my kitten, and taken to the pound.  My kitten was adopted, but I was left behind because I have something they call FIV.  Due to my diagnosis the shelter couldn’t adopt me out, so I went to a sanctuary.  The sanctuary is more for kitty’s that don’t like humans as much as I do, but I was safe and they took great care of me.  Another nice lady was helping out at the sanctuary and noticed how friendly I was and she brought me to her house, so I could find my furever home.  The vet said my diagnosis doesn’t even show and I am as healthy as a horse.  I kept telling him I was a cat, but I don’t think he spoke cat.  Its really hard for other cats to catch my illness.  I have to bite them hard enough to draw blood and Im just too nice for that.  My foster Mom says I am a queen bee and I like things to go a certain way.  Again, like I said im a cat!  My ideal home would be with someone who understands my illness and who knows later in life I might get more sinus infections and ear aches, but my prognosis is great and I can still live into my 20s.  I also like to control things, so another cat that allows me to be the boss would be ideal.  Ive learned how to tolerate small dogs, but big dogs might take sometime for me to adjust to.

More about this rescue

Faith McNitt started Feline Matchmakers in January of 2020. We are a small organization that focuses on owner surrenders. The larger organizations focus on shelter pulls, so we feel this is the most needed service in Wilmington, NC. We also work TNR cases in small numbers. We are looking for fosters to build our organization. All fosters work on a charity basis, as we do not yet have the funding to pay for anything other than medical expenses. If interested in joining us to save cats from being euthenized or put in shelters, please contact us.
