My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bodhi, the lovable ~4 year old Black Mouth Cur/Labrador Retriever!

Bodhi is on the search for his forever home, and he comes with a heart full of love and a whole lot of personality. This food-loving furry friend has a special place in his heart for tasty treats and is working hard on his training to share them with you.

Bodhi has a long story and has been waiting for his perfect match his entire life. He was originally given away for free to a surprised first owner who was not prepared for a puppy. After trying to manage him for a few months, he eventually reached out to us for help. Once placed in foster, we found that even at a few months old, he already had some food guarding habits. He was a great pup with everyone he met, but was working on his table manners. Eventually he found a family who adopted him for one year. After some life changes, he resorted back to some of his negative resource habits and they placed him in a training camp that used a shock collar on him. After this, he was surrendered back to us and after a lot of patience and trust, we were able to work through his new behaviors again. Bodhi has come such a long way with positive reinforcement, patience, love, and most of all-understanding. He is a loving and sweet soul who is just asking for you to love him. He is consistently overlooked due to his breed mixes, age, and sometimes his first impression isn't always the best-but isn't that the case for a lot of us? Bodhi is more than ready to be your loyal companion if you will allow him the chance. He has so many redeeming qualities which we would love to share with you!

Bodhi loves to play with other pups! He does best with other dogs who are also active and playful. He can also be an independent companion. He is dog and kid approved, but has not been cat tested. He will do best with kids over 10.

For Bodhi, an active family is a match made in heaven. He's got tons of energy to burn, and a spacious backyard where he can run and play would be a dream come true! Bodhi is not just about running; he's a social butterfly who loves giving gentle paw taps and being affectionate. He enjoys going to local breweries and would be an excellent adventure buddy! Don't be fooled though- he isn't only about playtime, he also is a pro at being a couch potato and would love to be your best companion on all types of days!

And the best part? Bodhi is a super smart pup who will let you know when he needs to go outside to potty and he learns very quickly. He is non destructive and does great in the car!

If you're ready for a companion who loves good food, playtime, and helping out around the house, Bodhi could be the perfect addition to your family!

Additional adoption info

All of our dogs and cats come spayed/neutered and vaccinated! Some of the pups will only have their first round of shots and may need rabies if they are under 3 months old. But other than that, these babies come ready to go! Our adoption fees vary, please inquire about each dog's individual fees. We do have cats and kittens available from time to time, so please inquire if you are looking for a feline pal! With their vetting, flights and care, we only ask for the adoption donation to help offset costs and make sure our adopters are serious. We love our rescues like we love our family. They mean the world to us and we just want to see them in good loving homes! And please check back as we are always adding new rescues to this page.

More about this rescue

We approach each every situation with an open mind. We work to build respect and trust with the partners, communities and countries we work in. With their acceptance, we build a plan together to meet the most pressing issues. We listen, learn and solve the needs together. We look for solutions that are integrated, scale-able, and sustainable. At Compassion Kind, we work with governments, institutions, local leaders, civil society organizations, foundations and businesses around the world to ensure that the most vulnerable beings are heard, and that they get the assistance they need to sustain from within the communities. Our teams and partners advocate for capacity building training and grass roots techniques so we make a lasting impact, create measurable change and operate as efficiently as possible.
