My story

Ember and Tinsel MUST be adopted as a pair, we will not adopt them out individually.

Ember--This girl...this girl is just something else. The first of multiple kittens trapped out of a feral colony, Ember proved to be super sweet and social from the get-go. Confident in her ability to win over any human, she has no problem quietly approaching someone to ask for all the love and pets they can dole out. She is smart, playful, sweet, snuggly, and active. She'd love to find a home with another young cat who will wrestle with her during the day and snuggle with her and the humans in the house at night.

Make sure your laps and energy are ready for this gorgeous feline because she's looking for both!

Tinsel-- Tinsel is an active girl who absolutely LOVES to climb and watch the world below from a high perch! She and her siblings were rescued out of a feral colony and, even though it did take her a couple of weeks to come around, she quickly learned that scheduled feedings and pets were part of a good life worth living! She is social, playful, and can be affectionate though she does things to be on her terms (cats...am I right?).

The adoption fee includes the spay/neuter surgery once the kitten is of age, microchip, and all age-appropriate shots.

More about this rescue

The Humane Society of Alamance County (HSAC) is a non-profit organization funded solely by donations, fundraisers and membership fees. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers working toward alleviating animal suffering and ending pet overpopulation. We have 5 main programs and receive approximately 900 phone calls per month from the public. Since restructuring in 1988, our main focus has been on spay/neuter. We believe the sterilization of companion animals is the answer to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation. We average spaying or neutering 1000 animals per year through our low cost program. We do not have a physical shelter location but have a small network of volunteers who provide foster care in their homes. Approximately 300 animals per year come through our foster program. Other services include an education program for children, emergency medical assistance, and food assistance for qualifying families.

Our greatest needs are for foster families, volunteers to supervise dogs and cats at adoption fairs and monetary donations to help with our vet bills, our primary expense.
