My story

Karrot is curious and playful. Although she is still quite bashful, she just can't help herself but to look for attention - and treats! She loves to be pet and scratched. She loves her mice toys and her snuggly bed/scratcher where she spends her days napping. She is still unsure about being picked up, and is still gaining confidence in a home setting, but considering where she came from it's no wonder!  Karrot is super funny and will bring joy to your home.

Karrot spent the first few months in rescue recovering from some of the health issues she endured due to the hoarding situation she was in.  A neighbor alerted us to a large group of cats that he was seeing come and go from a house whose occupant had recently been evicted. The house was left in shambles, filled with cages and carriers and the cats were left to fend for themselves.

Many of the cats had parasites and umbilical hernias - that have all been addressed. Now, they are looking for a loving home where they can live out their lives the way they should - comfortable and safe.

We estimate Karrot's birthdate to be 04/21/21. She's tiny still, but gaining weight and filling out so nicely. She should be kept on the high fiber "4-Health" dry food (from Tractor Supply) and chicken flavor friskies.

Our required adoption donation is $150 per kitten or $125 per cat (older than 9 months). All our rescues are up to date on shots, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLV/Heartworm. They are dewormed, treated for parasites and free of fleas. Each is spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination.

An application must be completed to be considered to adopt from Stray HELP. You can download it from HERE OR directly ONLINE If your application is approved we conduct a home visit for final approval of adoption. To view more pictures of cats and kittens in our program visit us on FaceBook.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and care for stray and homeless animals while providing humane education to the community.
We work with members of the community to help cats in need. We conduct trap/neuter/return and place projects and train home and business owners on how to properly care for free roaming cats on their property and in their neighborhoods.
We focus in southern Dutchess County, but help people throughout Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties by connecting them with local rescues that can work with them, loaning equipment, coordinating spay/neuter clinics and offering guidance.
