Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mayfield, a 1 year old Lab/Boxer mix girl. Her foster mom calls her Mayzie. Mayzie was named after the town she is from, yes Mayfield, KY that was destroyed by the historic tornado. Mayzie, along with other dogs had been kept in a trailer with little to no socialization. When the tornado hit the trailer was flipped. Several dogs were injured, but Mayzie was not, but she did manage to get out and avoid being caught for several days.
The owner released the dogs to HART and Mayzie went into foster care. Her foster home has 3 GSDs and 2 small dogs and does great with them. Mayzie is a shy and timid girl. First she was afraid to come out of the crate, then afraid to go outside. But she quickly learned the benefits of a home and deserted the crate with a few days to lay on a dog bed in the family room. Each day she gets better, she has been going outside on a long lead as she had no idea of any commands like come, but is now coming back inside on her own. She is a very quiet, calm and gentle girl who needs a home where her family will slowly help her come out of her shell, and help her to learn to trust. She actually has started playing with a toy. Her foster mom is confident Mayzie will overcome her trauma and fear and be a wonderful low maintenance dog. Mayzie is current on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed so ready for her forever home. A fenced-in yard is required to be considered for adoption.
