My story

Bart is a quiet, calm nine-year-old Jack Russell/Cattle Dog mix that was surrendered to us along with his companion, Tala. She is a beautiful eight year-old Siberian husky with crystal blue eyes. Their owner recently became homeless and was no longer able to care for them. A tiny little fella, Bart weighs fourteen pounds while Tala towers over him at seventy pounds. These two may be an odd couple but it seems to work well for them. We would be overjoyed if Bart and Tala were adopted together, but will separate them if it means getting each a wonderful home. Friendly and outgoing, Tala has more energy than Bart and enjoys being outdoors where she can run. A home with a large fenced in backyard would be ideal to give her the space to exercise. In the home, Tala is calm and very well behaved. Bart is more reserved and enjoys a sedate lifestyle puttering around the house. So, you have the best of both worlds; one dog to lounge on the couch with and the other to take on long walks. Both dogs would do well with an adult or family with children over eight. Bart and Tala are housebroken and should easily adapt to your home. As long as they can be with you, they will be contented and happy. Bart and Tala are fully vetted and anxious to find their new home.To adopt this pet, please go to hsnwga.org, 'Adoption' then 'Application for Adoption', to complete an online application to be preapproved. Due to the high volume of applications received, our Adoption Coordinator will only contact the applicant that best meets the needs of the pet.

Tour/Adoption Hours:

Fridays: 3pm – 5pm
Saturdays: 11am – 2pm

During adoption hours we have volunteers available to show dogs and cats to the public. For safety/insurance reasons we can only allow those 12 years or older to go into the dog kennel wing of the shelter. We ask all visitors not to stick their fingers/hands into the dog kennels. Our adoptable dogs and cats are viewable through our website. Everyone interested in applying for a dog or cat must submit an application through our website. We receive multiple applications for each animal. Applications for particular animals are based on best fit for each animal based on each animal’s behaviors and needs. An application not being selected for a particular animal does not necessarily mean the application was denied, but just that another application was approved.

Go to www.hsnwga.org to apply for a cat or dog.
