My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cocoa is fostered in Chanute Kansas.

If you're interested in adoption, please put in an application. We do check references and require a home visit for possible adopters.

We do not adopt out of our area without a vet & groomer reference. She does require a securely fenced yard as she is skittish & may try to bolt & not be caught.

If approved to adopt, the potential adopter must come to the foster home in Chanute to finalize the adoption.

We do not transport, nor ship our rescues. The foster meets the potential adopter to make sure all is well. We've had dogs turn down adopters as well as adopters decide no on a rescue dog.

The website with the link to the application is shihtzurescue.us the link is https://form.jotform.us/81416621100138

Cocoa is a doll. Just very shy and skittish until she gets to know someone.

Cocoa tries to dominate our dogs, so is only let our with one or two at a time. She may not do well with another dominate dog.

Cocoa's adoption fee is $350. She is current on vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and on preventative.

Cocoa 'guards' her food bowl. We feed in crates. Makes it much easier, no one can steal anyone's foodies, no arguments, and we know if some one is off foodies. Cocoa has never tried to bite us, but she might another Pupper, so they should be fed separate (not free fed). We feed twice a day.

Cocoa is a sweetie that was used for breeding. While she is a 'full' blood shih tzu, she does shed. her hair has a wiry feel to it. We cannot say if it will stop this shedding with proper nutrition or not.

She does have a bad underbite (and an off bite). But it doesn't seem to affect her. :) she is shy, a wee bit scared at first. The new owner would need to be aware of this & move slowly with her. She does cuddle & give kisses though!

We are unsure if she is housetrained, but appears to be crate trained. She also requires a fenced yard as she is quite skittish at first. After knowing her owner, She would probably enjoy going for walks. Again, this must be taken slowly..

Cocoa was excellent to clipper, but of course did NOT care for her baffie. LOL She has beautiful colors :)
