My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Miles - 75 pounds of great dog! Miles 4.5 years old and is in need of a new home because his dad passed away from cancer and now he is all alone because his doggy brother also passed away. His home has been sold and the new owner said miles could stay but has to be kenneled outside every day, all day. Miles would really love a warm heart and and a warm indoor bed to crawl into every night.

He's obedience trained and has some trick training. And he's eager to please when he's not being lazy, and he's a really cool dog. He's a talker and very expressive. He loved his walks, car rides, watching TV and being a couch hippo and hopes he can find the perfect forever home where he can love all those things again.

We think he's a staffy/lab mix. But just a guess. He would be better in a home with no small animals.

His dad's wishes was for Miles to have some land to roam on, but this oversized potato would be fine almost anywhere.

He really just wants attention and craves it more now that he is all alone and sitting in a kennel.

He can be stubborn and have selective hearing, as many dogs can. As you can imagine he has been a bit depressed and truly praying for a new human to love him like his daddy did.

Are you ready to give Miles all the love he needs.

All of our animals come fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered (if old enough), and microchipped. Puppies and kittens will be spayed/neutered and have all shots when they are old enough. There is an Adoption application, a quick phone interview to make sure it is a good fit, a meet and greet with the dog, then a home check, and an adoption contract. We ask for a $400 donation for adult dogs, and $500 for puppies at the time of adoption so that we can save other dogs from the shelter. More about this rescue

Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way around. The Little Red Dog was founded in memory of a little red American Pit Bull Terrier who did not make it. If you are familiar with the Michael Vick dog fighting case chronicled in The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption. The Little Red Dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cronies because she didn't want to fight.

The Little Red Dog rescues dogs; red, blue, tan, white, brown, black and all colors in between. We do not discriminate against ANY breed; that's because we are a real rescue, and we will help as many animals as we can. Our primary goal is to get them into loving homes. Our hope that some day all of them make it, but most of all, we will never forget the Little Red Dog and many others who did not.
