My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 11/1/20

Personality: Chatty, Cuddly, Curious, Enjoys being held, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Readily allows you to pick it up, Sweet

Favorite treats: yellow and green bell pepper, cilantro, Oxbow hay treats

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food, Veggies, Leafy Greens, Western Timothy Hay

Favorite toys and activities: hanging in her pigloo, touching noses and chatting with her friend Theresa through their shared cage side, hay chews, toilet paper tube toy

Potty trained: Haven't tried

This animal’s daily routine: Morning: pellets, vitamin C, and hay; poo clean out mid-morning; floor/lap time in the evenings on weekdays and afternoon on weekends; evening dinner salad; poo clean out and hay refresh at night before bedtime; bedtime gets 'tucked in' - top and back of cage covered with a light blanket

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Elsa is currently getting to know Theresa. At this time, they must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: rabbit - no direct contact but can hear and smell him, doesn't react; guinea pig in other room - no direct contact, wheeks back and forth with her around dinnertime; cat - indifferent

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Elsa does not have contact with children in her foster home. She did have contact with children in her intake foster home, and enjoyed being held and petted by them.

Health concerns: Elsa is currently being treated for bumblefoot.

Behavioral concerns: None

Other notes: Elsa is a Peruvian guinea pig, which means she has long, continually growing fur that will need regular brushing, trimming, and general maintenance to stay clean and allow her to move around unhindered by her hair.

Elsa was returned to MNPPR after her family could no longer provide care or provide a buddy for her after her cage mate passed away.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 8460 Tamarack Village, Woodbury, MN 55125 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Theresa & Elsa will have a combined adoption fee of $60

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Elsa's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Elsa or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
