My story

Jake and his brother, Simba, were originally surrendered to us in February 2022 because a new baby in the family was getting all of the attention. Jake and Simba were adopted together twice, but returned both times through no fault of their own. The first being the adopters had to travel out of state for an extended period of time and could not take the boys, and the second time being these two were just too much for the adopter to handle together. While we would love to see Jake and Simba be adopted together, as they love each other very much, we would rather see them live separately rather than continue living in cages here at the shelter. Jake weighs a little over 70lbs and is very well behaved. Compared to his brother, Jake has had far less interest in him from potential adopters. To put it bluntly, the reason we've been given is because Jake isn't as cute. We completely disagree with that and make sure to always tell Jake is he such a handsome gentleman! Jake has a goofy personality and loves to roll around in the grass. Jake walks well on a leash and is affectionate. Jake will need to go to a HOME WITHOUT SMALL CHILDREN OR WITHOUT OTHER PETS. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

HSNMB does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis in person at the shelter. Once the adoption is completed and the fee is paid, you must take the animal with you at that time.

Please be sure to bring a photo ID and cash or a credit card for the adoption fee. The primary caregiver is required to be present to go through the adoption process. Any children 5 and under and, in some cases, any existing dogs living in the home will be required to be present and meet the animal prior to adopting. Meet and greets are not required for all animals, but may be deemed necessary by HSNMB staff for specific pets.

Adoption Fees:
Cats (over 6 months of age): $60
Kittens (under 6 months of age): $100
Dogs (over 6 months of age): $110
Puppies (under 6 months of age): $140
Seniors ages 60 and up qualify for discounted adoptions fees.
