My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Up for adoption in Texas: Major "Duke".

Duke is seven years old and weighs about 75 pounds. He is a stunning black Lab mix with a glistening coat.

Duke is a medium-energy dog and if you like speed walking, he may just be the perfect dog for you! He loves to go on brisk walks. He's known for taking his walkers for their walks but he's getting better at that! He also loves taking time to smell the roses...those and all the smells.

He loves to greet fellow canine walkers with enthusiastic barking which is his way of expressing his desire to go say hello.

Duke is also a big fan of sunning in the backyard and rolling in the grass.

Duke loves to be near his humans. He is perfectly content to lay on the kitchen floor while you are making dinner or watch TV with you in the evenings. He is very flexible about hanging out with you.

In a foster home, he knows to stay off the furniture. However, he has shown interest in getting on the couch and would be happy to snuggle up once invited.

Duke loves to go for rides in the car! If you're looking for a ride-along buddy for errands, he's your guy!

He is fully crate trained, and sometimes enjoys going in his crate just for a nap on his orthopedic bed. Duke is crated when no one is home and overnight. He is very curious and LOVES stuffed animals and socks.

For now, we recommend Duke be the only dog in the home. He lived with a dog in his foster home and was terrific. He recently lived with another dog who was a bit particular and they did not always get along well. Duke seems to do well with the ladies, female dogs.

Duke has lived in a home with older children. We would not recommend kids any younger than 13 due to his size and sometimes excitability.

Duke is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and housebroken. He is ready for his furever home. Is that with you? Apply to adopt Duke at www.luckylabrescue.com
