My story

Felicia is a sweet kitty who just needs a little more time to get comfortable in a new environment. She is very friendly once she knows you and is comfortable in her space. She can be playful but is mostly content to curl up for an afternoon nap. She loves attention and would do better in a quieter home. Could this sweetheart be the missing piece of your forever family?

Additional adoption info

An application is completed in order for us to help to match the best pet to the adoptive home, we retain the right to refuse adoption when there are unaltered animals in the home, or there are other issues raised that may be harmful to the future of a pet in the home. Veterinary and landlord references are checked. All animals are spayed/neutered before adoption, they are microchipped, vaccinated for Distemper/ Parvo Combo and Rabies, dewormed and treated for fleas. Adoption fees are $75.00 for kittens (under 1 yr old) $65.00 for adult cats $125.00 for puppies (under 1 yr old) $100 for dogs.

Go meet their pets

Our shelter is open from 12 pm to 5 pm Monday through Saturday, except on holidays. On Saturday from approximately 10 am to 2 pm a couple of animals are taken to the Cranberry Mall by volunteers to be seen by the public.

More about this shelter

Venango County Humane Society was incorporated with the stated purpose of the corporation to: "Provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to provide proper care for stray and injured animals; to enforce all laws designed for the protection of animals; to secure in lawful manner the arrest, conviction and punishment of persons violating such laws; and through the dissemination of literature and other educational means, to instruct and induce people to be kind, considerate and merciful in their treatment of animals." We have closely followed this mission - of course we also take in pets that for whatever reason are no longer able to stay in their present home. We have a pet visitation program to take animals to those in nursing and personal care facilities - they are such a comfort. Our education outreach also extends to grade school children with programs to educate them on the proper care and interaction with pets to keep both the child and the pet safe. A thrift shop located at 725 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA is mainly run by volunteers to raise money to help the shelter costs. Bingo is held every Tuesday & Saturday at 7 pm at the Lee Bessler Hall in Seneca, PA to raise money to support our spay/neuter program. We are blessed with many volunteers who come in to help care for and socialize the animals, and to help at fund raising and public events.
