My story

American Staffordshire, 7 years, spayed female

Lilac is sweet as can be. Loves being held. Her former owner says she loves fetch, balls and sticks. Loves car rides. Has lived with other dogs and has been around farm animals. Has never been around cats. Here at the shelter she is unsure of new situations and surroundings. Her solution is to get near you ask you to love her. A little encouragement or some treat motivation helps her to be brave. Lilac needs a kind and gentle owner who will patiently expose her to new things and build her confidence back up.

More about this shelter

Responsible Pet Care is a no-kill, non-profit shelter for cats and dogs. The animals in our shelter have been picked up as strays by the animal control officer or surrendered by their owner. We also work with rescue agencies in the southern part of the country and Puerto Rico taking their dogs and cats when we have room. Pets have been neutered or spayed, received rabies vaccinations, received distemper shots, tested for HIV and feline leukemia or heart worm, treated for worms and parasites and given flea treatments before being released to a new home.
