My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skinny is AMAZING. housebroken, fine/quiet in crate, walks on leash well, not destructive outside of crate (is left out typically 8 hrs or so in house, no accidents, no destruction), good off leash, listens well, sits, gets along WONDERFULLY with other dogs, playful & submissive. Skinny LOVES to cuddle, she will nose your hand or paw for attention. She does jump when super excited (I do not discourage this behavior) but usually just sits & stares at you until you pet her. Skinny is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. Has NEVER shown aggression.
Skinny was found by a family who had a house built in the country. This very emaciated girl started coming up with a friendlier male dog once the family moved in. The family tried to make friends but the best they could do was get her to eat from a short distance. They named her skinny. Over the months, skinny became more emaciated, had puppies & started showing up with lacerations. The family simply couldn't handle her decline. They reached out for rescue help & she was caught in a trap & sent to a foster home. At the foster home, she got much needed medical help, shots, spay, found out she was heartworm positive, got treatment, etc. Her skin flaked for several weeks due to multiple lacerations all over her body. Best we can figure is she was constantly attacked from the pack of around 12 dogs she was with over food. It took about a month for her to start looking & acting like a dog. Her foster mom has been very patient in letting her learn to be a house pet. She has thrived. She has been taken out for socialization with other dogs MANY times & has done amazing every time. In public, she has gotten much better. She is still quite timid around large groups of people but will walk & let patient people pet her. People who have sat down with her have received kisses, nuzzles, nosing & paw. She has even gotten into a lap. This girl LOVES food & deserves all we can give her. She deserves to be a fatty for the rest of her life. She has good energy, likes to run & play but is also perfectly happy to cuddle up for a nap or some tv time (especially if snacks are involved). If Skinny sounds like she would be a great fit please contact Carrie Bowman 731-267-5535 or email cabowman67@yahoo.com for an application
