Blooming in his foster home after life on the streets, Bruno has been finding out how it feels to be safe, warm and loved. After swiftly bonding with the resident dog, he slowly relaxed and gained confidence, allowing his genuine sweetness and affectionate nature to emerge.
Now he loves snuggling on the sofa for movie night, having his chin scratched and his belly rubbed (he’ll whimper for both belly rubs and breakfast!), and especially enjoys soft furniture and regular meals. He also loves other dogs of all sizes and ages, genders and breeds, has bursts of playful energy that are truly endearing, while, for the most part, he’s quiet and calm, and more tolerant of vacuum cleaners and other loud household noises.
Still cautious around visitors, with a tendency to bark at them, he eventually comes over to investigate, sniffing them cautiously but curiously with his small, wet nose. (A residual fear of larger men causes him to hide and sometimes shake and sudden movements in his direction will send him skittering under the nearest table). Supremely smart and easiest to train when he himself is at ease, Bruno is extremely, and understandably, food motivated, knows “come”, “sit”, “touch”, “outside/inside”, “leave it” and “heel”, and is at work on his leash, crate and house training.
Now, for him to truly thrive, he’s best suited to a quiet home, perhaps with other dogs and older, respectful children, and nurturing adopters who will patiently continue boosting his self-esteem and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love.
