Homer is a rescue favorite because he is a special boy. His size can be intimidating, he does need to be an only dog, and definitely no cats (nothing wrong with not wanting to share your people)! BUT...he is the most gentle, sweetest dog you will ever meet. He just want's a comfy place to lay with his bone! He loves to go on car rides and look out the window. And will give the most amazing gentle kisses. Gentle is a key word...he is our gentle giant! Homer was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in is left eye, and blind in that eye. Glaucoma can be very painful, and since he is blind, we followed the advice of our vet and had the eye removed. Homer has healed up and ready to make is debut! But don't worry, he will get to add "handsome pirate" to his long list of traits! Homer is 7 years old and he housebroken, crate trained and is good with kids. He is completely vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If you think Homer would be a good fit for your family, please submit an app today! Please visit our website heartsandtailsofhope.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $250. Persons/families interested in adopting one of our dogs or cats must first fill out our adoption application. Once we review the application, if approved, we will set up a time for the person to meet the particular pet(s). If the person decides to adopt the dog/cat, we set up a time to do a home visit. Adoptions are approved after passing a home visit. An adoption contract is then signed, requiring veterinary care/food & water/exercise/affection for the dog/cat & a stipulation requiring the return of the dog/cat only to Tails of Hope, if necessary. All of our dogs and cats are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, HW negative/treated & on preventative.

More about this rescue
Tails of Hope Pet Rescue was incorporated in March 2008. We are a non-profit rescue and adoption group based in Waxahachie, Texas.
Tails of Hope is currently run by a small team of volunteers. We are all dedicated to rescuing animals in need, providing a safe environment for these animals, and matching the rescue animals to good families who will provide a lifetime of loving care for them.
The dogs and cats we have for adoption have all been rescued from various unacceptable living conditions, whether they came from animal control facilities, or were abandoned by their owners and dumped off on streets, bridges, or gravel pits. We rescue these unfortunate dogs and cats, and provide them with housing, food, medical care, rehabilitation opportunities, and love and attention, while we work to find a loving, permanent home for them.
