David the Doberman is a sweet, gentle boy who just loves to be around his people. He did great as a running partner for his previous foster dad and was reportedly a big snuggle buddy. He does well around other dogs after proper introductions. He is best friends with the resident female dog and seeks her out for attention and play. He does well with the female livestock outdoor dogs and is working on- but a little hesitant with the male resident dogs. David thrives on a household that has a pretty consistent day to day routine. When things aren’t routine or structured he can get a little anxious and act out. PLEASE don't be overwhelmed, David is a great dog who just needs a daily schedule much like a young child.
A relaxed and quiet home would be best. Having a secure handler who is breed knowledgable and calm will encourage him to remain calm. At this point, no busy households, no children, and a home that understands he will have to be kenneled when guests are coming over is a must. Anxious or reactive people will encourage the same from David. He is a very sensitive and empathic dog. He doesn't really play with toys or chew anything to pieces. He has a favorite toy that he keeps by him and doesn't seem to demolish it.
This boy loves snuggling with his people, and will wrap his body around their legs like a big hug. He's a definite dobie nose booper! He boops almost everything to verify what it is. He's got the dobie whine, and will try to talk to you in whines and whistles. , He does well with car rides, and will jump right in. He settles in and rides well. He minds his manners at the drive-thru, doesn't try to steal your fries, but won't tell you no if you offer to share!
