Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet BISHOP! A playful, funny, and outgoing boy, Bishop enjoys running, chasing, and being Mr. Happy! Super eager to learn new things, he’s smart and a quick study. Still a young dog, he gets over-excited at all the things that make him happy: meal time (food!), other dogs (because he wants SO much to play), leash-chewing (because he’s SO excited to go on a walk), people (because he LOVES ANY interaction with people). You get the picture! High energy when other dogs are around—he wants to play!—he also can be calmed down quickly with guidance. He barks to let you know he needs to relieve himself outside. While happy and contented with his Kong toy and tugga toy, Bishop can be a tad nervous when he spies an unknown object. But that’s because the world is still a new place he’s learning all about. Weighing about 40 lbs and 8-9 months old, Bishop is a German Shepherd mix. With that breed in his makeup, he’ll likely be energetic and fun-loving, smart, confident, courageous and steady. With proper training, he’ll learn amazing things and become a gentle, steadfast family pet eternally devoted to his people. That makes Bishop just about the perfect dog and he’s being trained every day to learn how to live in a forever home. Why? Because Bishop is a SECOND CHANCES dog! What is a SECOND CHANCES dog? Bonaparte’s Retreat is partnered with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and its SECOND CHANCES Offender Dog-Training program. We provide rescued shelter dogs and the Sheriff’s Office selects female inmate animal handlers/trainers to live with, love, train, socialize, groom, and prepare the dogs for forever homes. A SECOND CHANCES dog will already have learned many commands and how to live in a home. These really are just about the perfect dogs!May 2, 2024, 1:55 pm
