My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking to bring Summer into your life? Well our Summer is looking for a forever home of her own.

This adorable little senior joined us, yes, this past summer. She was a horribly neglected pup, arriving from Tennessee suffering from severe alopecia and, uncomfortable due not only her irritated skin but also a large mammary mass. In addition, she was badly overweight. She has spent the last few months recovering, and today is in great shape…the adorable, pretty little pup she deserves to be.

Summer is estimated to be 8 - 10 years old, weighing 19lbs.

She is calm (except at meal time), friendly, good with other dogs, and overall very very sweet.

She is thought to be a Dachshund-Beagle Mix. She definitely possesses characteristics of each of these breeds. Adopters with experience with these breeds are preferred.

An ideal family for Summer is a calm family with another calmer dog, but Summer would do fine as an only dog…and might enjoy that!! She enjoys being outside, napping indoors while observing wildlife outside, and of course, eating. She rides very nicely in the car. Summer would do well with older children but likely would not be fond of younger children messing with her.

Her family needs to be disciplined enough to not overfeed her since she would likely eat anything in sight if she could!

Summer is looking for that family to make her a valued family member, including her in all of their activities, but also providing her the “down time” to rest, relax, and just chill.

Like all of our dogs, Summer is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed, microchip, and has recently had a full dental with extractions.

If you meet all of Summer’s needs and are interested in adding her to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Note that BAARK is located in Barrington IL, and we adopt only locally.
