My story

Hi, my name is Bartok and even though I'm currently finishing up treatment for some pesky worms in my heart, that does not affect my ability to love you! I love people, I love to hug them, I love to lay on them, I love to follow them around, and when they are gone, I love to lay where their scent is to remember them. In fact, I love people SO much that I just LONG to be someone's best friend!!! I like to play with the other dogs but I don't really like them in my space, especially my crate, and sometimes I don't like them taking all the scritches from people. I have my very own crate which is my safe space. I have been on my crate rest to kill the heart worms and boy will I be GLAD when I can run FREE again!! But I have really become super crate trained, so that's a good thing to come out of a "crappy" situation (the wormies) Did I mention I LOVE people? I love people so much that I wouldn't even mind if there weren't any other dogs around, but if you DO have other dogs... I like the chicks best :) Speaking of people, I would thrive with some people who are comfortable helping me learn how to be a member of the pack or I can BE the pack :) Sensing a trend here?? I am still learning that things like love and food are unlimited in a family and I don't want all the other dogs to take those coveted prizes. My foster mom is teaching me all about unlimited resources but I still wear a belly band inside because I like to "put my name on things so to speak. I am learning that it is not ok and that there is plenty to share but I still need to be reminded. While you're at it, maybe you can teach me what a "cow" is. My foster mom calls me that, she says I moo when I howl but I'm not sure what that means. I don't know what a cow is, but if you love cows or handsome husky dog boys with gorgeous blue eyes, fill out the application because I am waiting to find my forever people and give them my whole heart!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Additional adoption info

Adoption application required. Adoptions applications are checked by contacting references and veterinarians of those with pets to ensure our pups go to the best homes possible. We work hard to place dogs into the right families, but sometimes we realize the fit isn't quite working out for the adopter or the pet.. If an adoption does not work out and we have room to take the dog back into the rescue, we will. However, the sheer number of needy animals in TX usually means we become full quickly after the dog is adopted. So, in those cases we will post the animal locally, and help the adopter screen applicants and facilitate finding another adoptive home for the pet in your area.

Go meet their pets

We are a TEXAS based rescue who transport regularly to this area. Our dogs are in TEXAS and will be transported to you if you adopt from us. Our pets are posted on our website, and most live in homes with their fosters. We live with our foster dogs to get to know them in a home setting and to let them know that life can be good away from the streets. We work to correct poor behaviors, teach manners and observe each dogs particular quirks and personalities so we can give accurate observations of the dogs you are interested in. We know that dogs will sometimes behave differently with different people but we can give you our impressions of our pups and situations they have been in.
