If you're looking for objectively the best cat, look no further: he's here. With a face like a bunny, Skylar would win you over no matter what, but he's also just an amazing companion! Favorite activities include following you around the house like a puppy and taking nice long naps. In many ways, he's more dog than cat: it would never occur to him to hide--as soon as he's in a new place, he wants to come out of the carrier, meet everyone, and explore! No hiding under the bed for this guy!
Skylar is sweet, friendly and loves being by your side just hanging out. A super chill NYC cat who is also a foodie as many of us are. He has a lot of love to give after his previous owner passed away. He doesn't need someone who is home all day--he's fine hanging on his own.
Skylar is worried he won't get adopted because he's diabetic, which he doesn't really get: he's the one who's getting the shot--if he doesn't mind, why should you?! We've tried to explain to him that people get scared around needles sometimes, but he still doesn't get it--the needle is so tiny he hardly feels the shot, plus it happens when he's eating delicious food. He sits still and doesn't run away--doesn't even look up half the time. Don't let it discourage you: the shots are tiny and the timing is flexible. Skylar also wants you to know that you don't have to have experience giving shots to do his insulin--we'll show you how! There's also no need to prick him to test his blood sugar--he has special strips you use to test his urine instead. And no, it's not *that* expensive! If you're interested, we have lots more information for you on diabetes and on Skylar!
Because of Skylar's diabetes, we're happy to start out with a foster-to-adopt for him, so you can get comfortable managing his needs.
Skylar is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. He is 12 years old. If you're interested in this beautiful boy, fill out an adoption application at www.brooklynanimalaction.org/adoption-forms and designate Jennie AnneS as the rescuer. Please contact jennieanne@brooklynanimalaction.org with questions. Thank you for thinking of a rescued kitty! All donations and adoption fees go to saving the next sweetie.
