This handsome guy is Jake! He is just a little over a year old. He’s a sweet little guy that was homeless in the Houston, Texas area. He’s in a great foster home now and just had all his vet work done. Unfortunately, our boy is heartworm positive. We are opting for the slow kill method where he will simply take a heartworm chew each month and after a while, he will be as good as new. He gets along with all dogs and all adult people. He’s very friendly. Jake is an energetic and frisky little guy who loves to play and run around in the backyard. He also likes to go for walks. We hope his owner will be active enough to keep Jake up and going. He is not a couch potato. He likes activity. He will not do well with kiddos, cats, or any small little critters such as parakeets, gerbils, etc. Like all young JRTs he needs a securely fenced yard. However, we will not feel comfortable adopting him to someone who leaves him alone in the yard all day. We want him to be an inside dog. He will need a little patience when it comes to house training. He’s almost got it down and will do well if he goes out frequently and is rewarded for doing his business in the yard. JRTs are smart! He will be fine. Jake is being fostered in the Houston, Texas area. Anyone with interest in adopting Jake can apply to adopt at https://www.russellrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/ and the Rescue Coordinator for Jake will contact you once the application is received. A home visit and good vet reference are mandatory to adopt Jake. Russell Rescue does not ship/transport our dogs so Jake’s approved adopter must travel to the Houston, Texas area to get Jake.
