My story

Julia: gray tabby & white, long hair, spayed female, born approx. 8/23/21, #16985Joe: black/brown tabby & white, medium hair, neutered male, born approx. 8/23/21, #16986Taken in as small kittens by a dog rescue, Joe & Julia then moved with their mom to Rescue House foster care. Both were born with rear leg and feet deformities that were closely monitored as they grew to see if any medical intervention would be needed, but they are doing great as-is and just need some simple household accommodations to help them get around best. Having known nothing else in their lives, Joe and Julia regard themselves as completely normal and fun-loving kitties!Nicknamed "the Scooters" because of how easily they scoot around with their strong front legs pulling the back ends along for the ride, Joe and Julia are an active pair who love to play with their toys, cajole treats, bask in warm sunbeams, and chatter at lizards passing by the window. They are keenly interested in the world around them, right down to supervising your shower! Water fascinates them and Julia is even known to nap in the wet stall after your ablutions. They connect closely with their known people but do want some time to progress from stranger to friend. While they don't enjoy being held much (due to the awkwardness of sorting out their legs), Joe and Julia adore being petted and softly scritched down their backs, which is an area they can't reach themselves for scratching.---Julia's purr motor is always on if you're petting her - if you're lucky, she'll blissfully curl her cute little toes and then stretch out to encourage some belly rubs, too. Her favorite place is on the bed next to you while watching movies. Very food-motivated, Julia will run in a mermaid shuffle with pointed meows for you to come along... it's time for treats! Quick cuddles and kisses are appreciated, but this active and independent girl has places to go and things to do, like giving her brother a face and ear wash so he's deemed presentable. An adorable gray floof ball with big round eyes, Julia is ever so endearing.---Joe (aka Little Joe and JoeJoe) has the cutest drawn-out meow, and he likes to talk and answer you if you ask him questions. This bright-eyed boy's favorite toys (at the moment) are twisted pipe cleaners; he makes sure to keep them clean by putting them in the water bowl after each play session. Feather wands must be chased, and he is skilled at climbing to the top of the cat tree. When he runs, Joe charges ahead on his front feet with his back end up in the air - there's no slowing him down! Contoured pillows or the soft shower mat are where he best likes to sleep.---Julia and Joe MUST be adopted together.Joe and Julia prefer not to share the spotlight with any other cats except their mother Jade. They have not met dogs. Younger children would not be the best fit; a calm and quiet house with adults or older teens who are home a lot to play and engage with them would be ideal. Joe and Julia inspire both love and pride: they never view themselves as less than capable, and they make the most of every day, achieving a happy and accessible life that is full of purrs and joy for all involved. These sweet charmers are ready to meet their forever family... will you be the lucky one to adopt them?
