My story

Meet Mouse! A 2 yr old super happy mutt mix. Mouse weighs 29 pounds and she’s some kind of lab collie hound mix. Her mom was a pit mix and her siblings are all 75 plus pounds. Her bark is barely heard, but she is quick even for being a paraplegic dog. Mouse is dog cat, and every breathing animal friendly. Mouse suffered a spinal and neck trauma injury as a puppy that prohibits her from walking but that doesn’t stop her. Mouse does wear diapers as needed. She is active, playful, outgoing, and will give it her all to keep up with any dog. She does not have a off button so we make sure to monitor her activity and time spent on her drag bag, wheelchair/scooter/walker time. This girl has the spirit of a pack of wolves. Mouse is fully grown, we think. Last time the vet said so she gain another 10 pounds. Mouse does have limitations but nothing that she can’t overcome with help and the right family. We do so daily since she was 4 weeks old. She has all items above that come with her and a 2 months of all needed supplies upon adoption.

Mouse microchipped, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.

Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.

We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a lifetime commitment.

Additional adoption info

Completed applications MUST be Printed & Mailed via United States Postal Service. We are a volunteer-based rescue, meaning every person involved is doing their best. Taking time out of their busy day to best help provide proper daily maintenance care for every dog and/or cat in our care until the best match with a happy forever adopter is made. Normally our adoption application processing review may take 2 to 3 weeks give or take. If you are seeking same-day adoptions then AHS may not be the best fit for your needs. We do not agree with impulse adoption. Adopting any pet is a decision that should not be taken lightly nor made impulsively.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based all-volunteer program. We are not a government shelter facility nor are we open to the public. Our adoption process can take 2 to 3 weeks from the time you mail it in to the time that we reach out to you. If you are window shopping we are not the rescue for you. We are seeking committed adopters.

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit licensed rescue. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Educating the public on spay and neuter. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We have a few programs including Feeding the homeless and their pets. The hospice heaven program consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. Matching senior pets with a senior home.
