My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Mya is a sweet girl who craves human affection. She's an excellent companion who will be content  being by your side; she excels at snuggles and kisses! She's the perfect mix of energy for walks &  exploring and then laidback "chill" for Netflix & couch cuddles.

Mya's start to life taught her that not all people are kind but in spit of that, she's always willing to give them a chance. She needs slow introductions to new people & a little extra time to adjust to new situations and environments. We've found that having Mya on a leash when meeting new people works best; by having someone she trusts holding her leash, it lets her know that they "have her back" and won't let anyone harm her. Once she knows she's safe, you'll see her true, sweet, happy personality blossom!

We recently discovered that Mya likes other dogs! Mya's play style is polite & she respected the other dogs signal that playtime was over and went about her business of following her person around the house. Having a well balanced dog in the home may even help Mya gain confidence. As always, a meet & greet with any resident or frequently visiting dogs  is required. Mya will do best with only older, respectful children. Her prey drive is strong, so no cats or small animals for her! Squirrels love to tease, so we're also recommending a securely fenced-in yard, a cable tie-out that doesn't reach the fence and supervision whenever she's outside.

If you're looking for a BFFL (best friend for life), please apply to meet Miss Mya today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
