My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxy is an example of why you should not buy from a breeder or pet store. It just feeds the machine that profits off the lives of these animals. Roxy was purchased from Buy Rite Pet Supply in Hayward,CA. She and her littermates were bought from a breeder, who made $$$$ selling them to a pet store. The pet store then sold them for $700.00 each to any moron with a checkbook. Roxy was bought by a man as a toy for his two young, spoiled girls. When they got bored with having a dog, Roxy was banished to a corner of the yard, and lived out her days chained up. This man let it be known that he no longer wanted Roxy. In fact he told his co-workers that he was going to take her out and dump her somewhere. He was going out of town and told the co-workers that if anyone wanted Roxy, they could have her, but when he got back, he was going to dump her and drive off. This man left for the weekend and left Roxy chained up in his atrium. One of the co-workers checked on Roxy that day and found that the temperature in the atrium had risen to such a degree that the chain Roxy was attached to was almost to hot to touch. The co-worker grabbed up Roxy and called to see if she could come here and find a new home that would actually give a damn about her. If the co-worker hadn't checked on Roxy, she probably would have been dead by the time this ass**** had returned from his trip. Not that he would have cared. Then he could have just dumped her body in the trash. Now that Roxy is here, she gets to run and play with other dogs. She has a dominant personality, but that is probably what kept them from breaking her spirit. This man's actions have now taught his 2 daughters that Roxy and her kind are disposable. Like something you get from the drugstore. Use it until you no longer want it, then toss it out like garbage. Everyone Roxy had come into contact with had used her in some way. The Breeder made money off her and her littermates. The petstore made money of her and her littermates. This moron used her to temporarily entertain his kids. Not one of these parties gave a rip about what finally happened to Roxy. They got what they wanted from her. Roxy, although having a rotten start in life, is quite friendly. She gets a little too excited when she meets people, but that passes after a few minutes. Probably from being isolated living on a chain. Roxy knows how to walk on leash, sit, rides in the car, is crate trained, and house trained. She is reluctant to give up her toys and needs to be given a command to "Drop". The kids she used to live with would give her a toy while she was on the chain, and take it away from her. Give it to her. Take it away from her. Until she would finally growl at them. Then they would laugh and give her the toy. Effectively teaching her that if she wanted her toy she would have to growl to keep it. So she is given a command to drop it. No problem. She spits it out and lets you take it. Roxy would probably do best in a home that has dog experience. She is great with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. Finally, she gets to be a dog, not a toy!
