My story

Hi, my name is Cam. My past has been rough but now I'm in a foster home receiving lots of love, snuggles, and training. I am 2-years, about 60-lbs and said to be a Mastiff mix. I need some time to warm up to new people but once you've gained my trust I open up and show off my sweet and playful side. I have been learning to play with toys and think they are pretty fun! I walk great on a leash and I'm learning to sit and wait for my food. My favorite thing to do is curl up on my dog bed or in a human bed and take a nap. It's so freeing to feel safe and loved. I am potty trained and haven't had any accidents in my foster home! I don't love the kennel but go in easily and only complain a little. I love treats, of course! I take a bit to warm up to new people and fast movements, so I should not be in a home with kids. Chill adults are much more my speed. I am a really good jumper so will need a 6ft fence or will need to be leash walked. I currently have foster dog siblings and do pretty well with them, but I'd probably do best being the only dog. I may be a little protective at times but it's only because I am unsure of the unknown. Please help me find my forever family! I know they are out there.

Additional adoption info

We have a Adoption Application located on our website at www.DogsbyDebin.com under the Applications tab. Each potential adopter is required to fill out. After the Adoption Application is reviewed, and requirements are verified, Dogs by Debin will contact adopter, and if eligible, appointment will be made to come in and meet our dogs. We try and list our adoption fees when posting our dogs. All of our adoption fees include: Age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, tested for heart worm (if positive, we treat them), and a free training session with our local trainer. If the adoption is a puppy, the training session will be at 4mths or older.

More about this shelter

We were developed based on the fact that there is a gap in the shelter system. The shelters that are open-intake, although they are doing the best they can, they can only do so much. Those shelters are also very stressful to the dogs & this is where we step in. You can consider our place a half-way home for dogs if you will. We allow the dogs to be dogs again, offering them behavioral modification, land to run on, playgroups & necessary vet care. With this being said, our adoption rate is sometimes slowed due to the fact the dog(s) may not be ready for adoption right away. We set our dogs up for success & match them with the right family. Our final goal is to have the adoptions last the dog's lifetime. Our #1 goal though is to have a dog stay in their current home, should it be safe. We offer counseling & resources to do our best to make this happen. When it's not possible, they may safely surrender the dog to us, provided we have space.
