My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oreo. Oreo is an about 8 to 10-month-old border collie, terrier, super mutt mix! He does very well on a leash, is working hard on his potty training. And gets along with all his friends dogs and people! This sweet boy has been through the wringer. He was at the shelter at about eight weeks old and the shelter adopted him out as a young puppy. He was returned to the shelter after a few months because he was not eating and losing weight. It was determined he had some type of gut obstruction or injury and the shelter vet did emergency surgery. Nothing was found except scar tissue. Since he still wasn’t eating he was on the list to be euthanized, that’s when we took him. His foster has nursed him from a skinny boy with a hole in his gut to a happy healthy puppy that weighs about 35 pounds and doing well! Oreo should be a medium-size dog, about 40-50 pounds when fully grown. He is currently on a special fiber diet to help his gut continue to heal and prevent gastric upset. He may need to continue on that diet for a while, but hopefully his gut will fully heal and he will be able to eat a regular kibble. He did recently get an injury on his leg. It is healing well! He did get bloodwork at his vet visit.

Interested in becoming a forever home for Oreo? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application.

Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws.

We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Oreo.
We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Oreo the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us.
For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process.

Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.

All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.

Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
