My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Shiner!  Born October 25, 2021, this tender pup is growing up quite handsomely.  At 7 months of age, he weighed 40 pounds, and he will likely reach more than 75 pounds as an adult.  He is mostly legs and sometimes has a swagger walk as he isn't use to them yet.

Baby Shiner is affectionate, friendly, and sweet. He is such a good boy and has so much love to give.  He may be a little bashful when he first meets you, and he likes children.

He loves to play, but most of the day you can catch him snoozing half on a bed and half on a floor. He is great at walking on a leash and likes to explore. He is not much of a water dog, but he did go paddle boarding and tolerated it. He also isn't much of a barker; somehow, he doesn't join in and bark at the garbage truck.

He is goofy, playful, and curious. He loves to run around outside and play chase with humans or other dogs. Whether it is a bone, stuffed toy, or running activities he’s always ready to party, when he gets the zoomies, he also does a little parkour.

Shiner is house trained, sleeps through the night in his crate, and goes to the door to let you know he needs to go potty.

He knows how to sit and shake.  He knows what "no" means and is currently working on lie down. He does well on car rides and likes to feel the wind in his fur.

He does well with cats that are nice to dogs. We think that if a cat smacked him, he would run away crying.

He is a quick leaner especially when treats are involved. He has a soft mouth and doesn't use his teeth when taking food out of your hands.

Shiner would do well in a home where there are other active pups or active humans who can keep him entertained.  He must have a playful doggy companion in his forever home.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
