My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elvis!!

Elvis joined BAARK’s Safe House earlier this year, another senior finding himself at Chicago Animal Control, confused, depressed, and looking hopeless. We initially thought he might be a hospice dog, as he was weak and appeared to be old and sickly..

Well it appears that some attention, compassion, and love…along with good nutrition and great companionship can bring such hopeless souls back to life, as it did Elvis, and so many of our intakes before him.

Elvis is thought to be a Rottweiler mix, 10-11 years old and about 72 lbs. He’s adorable, loving, and sure deserves to spend his twilight years with a loving family of his own.

Elvis shares his story with us, as he looks for a loving, quiet, and interesting forever family…..

Hi my name is Elvis! I'm a handsome guy and I'm just the sweetest boy you'll ever meet. I love getting pets and I have the cutest little nub that wags when I'm happy. Not much is known about me, i am an older gentleman that was found wandering the busy streets of Chicago and unfortunately my owner never came to get me. I had a very hard time at the shelter for two long months. But all that is behind me now and I'm living the good life in my new foster home. I am now on pain medications for some arthritis in my back legs, and I'm feeling so much better now and even running around with the other dogs. I've still got some pep in my step and enjoy playing with toys and keeping myself busy chewing bones. My foster mom says I'm an extremely easy dog to take care of and I've gotten along with all the dogs i have met here, both big and small. I am house trained but have had a couple of accidents, and I'll go easily into my kennel room if i need to be crated. Due to my back legs being not as strong as they used to be i am looking for a home that has no or very few stairs to navigate. I also would not do well in a home with children because my old feet do not like being stepped on (understandably!) and I can get a little grouchy if that happens. I am just looking for a comfy dog bed to spend my golden years on, I'm such a good boy i just know I deserve a forever home of my own with a person who will give me lots of love.

Elvis is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, has had full bloodwork, and is neutered. He is heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention. In addition, Elvis has greatly benefitted from pain meds for his arthritis, which have allowed him to play with his canine friends and enjoy every day painfree.

If you are able to provide Elvis a calm, loving home in which to spend his twilight years, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895
