My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
In the classic book “Charlotte’s Web,” the spider, Charlotte, spins a web for Wilbur the pig, with the words “Some Pig” in her silk.
She could have been writing about Chancho.
Chancho is a delightful guinea pig. He’s a 1 year old boar, and a big one at that (most of his visitors say that when they meet him—“Wow! He’s a big guy!”), and he is alllllll guinea pig!
He loves eating, and will squeal if his foster mum happens to push back meal time a little to far.
He loves carrots and blueberries, will tolerate greens, and doesn’t love green pepper. (Chancho! Guinea pigs need vitamin C! Eat that pepper!)
He sleeps a bunch during the day, but LOVES to explore in the evenings during floor time. He chats the entire time he explores—reporting out on what he finds.
He loves being held, and will toss himself into a heap on your lap with a giant PLOP! He purrs loud like a locomotive. Sometimes, though, he’ll decide that he needs a better view, and will perch his front paws on your arm. It’s so cute.
He had an itchy skin condition when he arrived, but with some TLC, it’s all better now. He was even good about taking his medication! He was braver than his foster mum!
If you’re a guinea pig pro, you’ll love this guy: he’s everything to love in a guinea pig. He’s comical and friendly and good-natured.
If you’re new to guinea pigs, he’ll be a GREAT beginning. Keep in mind, he’s probably a year or two old, so he has 5-7 years of food, exploration, cuddles, and conversation ahead of him.
Adoption fee is $30 for each piggie. Our guinea pigs are fostered throughout Michigan. Please note: Skinny piggies are $50 each. Cages are available for an additional fee.
