My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Approx DOB: December 2008

Shadow (ID#22007) is like a devoted dog that follows you around, flops down at your feet to be petted or crawls up on your lap. She shows her appreciation for being petted by briefly licking. When her human passed away, Shadow weighed 31.6 pounds (she’s a DSH with an ideal weight of 11-12 pounds). She’s had annual wellness checkups with tests to ensure her weight or age of 14 has not affected her health. She is treated for constipation with Miralax sprinkled on her wet food. She transitioned from free feeding to smaller meals twice a day and has steadily lost weight. At 16.5 pounds, she’s close to her ideal weight. Shadow keeps walking faster and further, even climbing up and down stairs. Shadow loves cat beds and has several throughout her foster home. There is a favorite cat bed she and her sister Christy both prefer, and when one of them leaves the bed, the other immediately claims it. This is the only game they play. Shadow likes attention and companionship. She’s good with school age and older children and adults and would do well with homebodies. She’s always lived with one or more other cats. She can be adopted with or without sister Christy.

All cats are vaccinated, dewormed, treated with flea preventative, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.

If you are interested in adopting a cat(s), we ask that you complete an on-line adoption application to get the process started. To apply, simply go to www.furryfriendsnetwork.com / Adopt a Furry Friend / Adoption Application. You will receive a welcome email once your application has been assigned to a volunteer processor (this should be within 72 hours of submitting an application). If you do not receive such an email, contact catapplication@furryfriendsnetwork.com. Once your application has been processed (this can take approx. 10-14 days), we will arrange contact with the foster to schedule a time to meet cats you might be interested in. We are an all-volunteer organization and appreciate your patience during this process.

Foster Homes are needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. Check out our website on how to become a Foster Parent! Visit www.furryfriendsnetwork.com and look under Foster a Furry Friend. Furry Friends Network provides our foster homes with food, litter, crates/carriers as needed and miscellaneous other supplies as well as veterinary care.

More about this rescue

Furry Friends Network is a non profit, all-volunteer animal adoption organization. Our philosophy is to help those animals that did not ask to be born, that are often the result of human ignorance. Any animal, no matter its age, can offer love and companionship to the right person.

Furry Friends Network is not a shelter, but instead uses a foster home network to house the animals until permanent, indoor homes can be found, offering second chances at lifetimes of love and happiness. Furry Friends Network also works to help humans understand the importance of controlling the pet population through spaying and neutering.

Furry Friends Network relies on private and corporate donations to help fund our rescue operations and accomplish our mission - to save lives, one animal at a time. Since the organization's inception in 2001, Furry Friends Network has facilitated the rescue, and rehabilitation and placement of approximately 300 homeless dogs and cats into new homes each year. With your support, we can continue to accomplish this mission.

There are many thousands of animal rescue organizations, all working for the same purpose. We hope through our efforts, we will make at least a small difference, and save a few lives in the process.
