My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Valo!

Valo is very gentle with humans, he does well in play yard and is just a good boy. He is decent on a leash and does know some of his basic commands.

He is at our boarding partner in Michigan City, IN and they say "Valo has been in play groups with other canine Pals, and does have a good time with them. He plays ball, though he doesn't seem to have the need to be intense about it like some shepherds. Friendly with everyone! He is working on some manners, and doing well with learning to focus and mastering his sit!"

Basics: Guessed to be around 2 yrs old, medium sized at 44lbs, neutered, up to date on vaccines, rabies, flea-tick and heartworm prevention

Adoption Process:
- Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application
- One of our team members will get back to you via phone.
- Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding
- Adoption fee helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip.
- We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available.

About Us:
Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Dyer, IN area and partner with 12 other rescues and shelters in both IL and IN that are willing to help southern pets in need.
We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
