My story

Kammie is a shy 8 year old lab mix. Kammie needs to go to a very patient home with another dog and a yard. She is still very shy and will require patience, but she is such a sweet girl!Kammie was found homeless with her 3 babies. All of Kammie's other pups did not survive the conditions they were in prior to arriving at the shelter. Poor Kammie has lost so much already, it's time she gains something. A home and loving family can help start making up for that. Because she has had so much trauma, this girl is timid, but has not shown any aggression when she is approached. She even gets along well with other dogs! Kammie is an older dog, so we want her last years to be filled with happiness. She should not leave this world having only known loss. From her foster: She is so gentle and sweet. It definitely takes her a bit to get comfortable, but it makes the tail wags even more special when you get them! Kammie took a few days to get potty trained, but they all do as you know. She hasn't had an accident inside since the third day we had her. She has been great with the puppy and my dog, but she doesn't seem to like my cats. She growls and barks when she sees them and they're shy so they stay in our bedroom most of the time. We gave her a bath a few days after they settled in and she did really well! She's slow to walk on a leash, but she has improved so much in just one week. She takes treats very gently and doesn't make a peep when I put her in her kennel at night and when we're leaving for work. She is such a gentle girl who just needs some TLC to know what love is- she deserves it!! She's not super active, but I've seen glimpses of her get excited with my dog and want to play a little. It breaks my heart to think of all the years of hard living she's endured and I know she will be a great addition to a family willing to show her how great life as a dog can be! https://youtu.be/onmQPEXxHAQIf you are interested in these pups, please submit an application through our website aaanimalrescue.org. Please feel free to email with any questions allaboardanimalrescue@gmail.com.Breed and size disclosure: As a rescue all of our dogs come to us from high-kill shelters or other rescues, so we do not get a lot of background or information on these dogs. We occasionally receive the mother with the puppies, but in most cases both parents are unknown. Because of this we do not know the full breeding of the dogs. We are required to list the dogs based on the breeds provided to us on their records, but they are all mixed breeds as far as we know, and we cannot guarantee the actual breeds of any of these dogs. Since the full breeding of the dogs is unknown we can also only give you an educated guess on the full-grown size of the dogs. All of the current information we have on the dogs is listed in their bio above. More information may be available over email, since a lot of the fosters turn in report cards on how the dog has done in their care. Adoption Process: If you are interested in adopting from us, the first step of our adoption process is to fill out an application online at http://aaanimalrescue.org/adoption_app.html. It takes us up to 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you, via email. Applications turned in Friday afternoon or Saturday morning will not be seen until the following Monday. We do have applications on site, but are not always able to approve them at that time and many of the dogs will already have holds on them, so we suggest you fill out an application prior to attending a meet/greet. We can place a hold on one dog per approved applicant after a deposit fee has been received, please do not ask to hold a dog if you have not turned in an application and been approved. If you do not place a hold we cans till schedule a meet/greet, we just cannot guarantee availability of the dog, first serve basis. If you already have an approved application on file, there will just be more paperwork and the adoption fee at the meet/greet, but you will be able to take home the dog/puppy that day! Since we are foster based and not a shelter, our dogs are only available to meet with an appointment scheduled or at an adoption event!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue, and do not currently have a location. To meet or adopt any of our dogs or puppies you will need to attend one of our weekly Saturday adoption events. You must be present at the event to adopt a dog. We ask that you pre fill out an application prior to attending the event so that we can get you approved and you can take home your new puppy from our event. We start marketing our available dogs and puppies BEFORE they arrive in CO to work on finding them their forever homes as quickly as possible and to decrease the amount of times they have to be moved around. Most of our dogs and puppies are NOT in CO when they are posted on the website. Step 1 – Fill Out An Adoption Application Please fill out an application online, which can be found under the adoptions tab. Applications must be filled out in full and electronically signed or we will not review them. Please allow us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you. You will receive an email back from us letting us know if you are able to adopt or not. If you fill out an application less than 24 hours before one of our adoption events, do not expect to get a response back from us before the event. Step 2 – Placing a Dog or Puppy on Hold We are able to hold one dog or puppy per approved applicant to give you the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that puppy. Dogs on hold will only be held for the first hour of our adoption event from 10-11am. After 11am all dogs will be available on a first come first serve basis. A dog is not on hold for you until you have received a confirmation email back from us letting you know that your application has been approved and you have confirmed that you will be at our adoption event to meet your chosen dog. Step 3 – Attending an Adoption Event Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 10am-1pm at the Fort Collins Petco located at 2211 South College Avenue. No one will be let into the event before 10am, as we are setting up and all of the foster dogs are arriving, so please do not crowd or pester us. If you have a dog on hold a volunteer can help you locate that dog and you get the next hour to socialize with that dog and decide if it is a good fit. If you do not have a dog on hold, you are welcome to come meet our dogs that do not have holds on them, but dogs with holds will not be available to meet until after 11am. Volunteers will be happy to answer questions and help you introduce the dog to your current dog(s), kid(s), etc. Once you are ready to adopt there will be more paperwork and an adoption fee. Step 4 – Adopting Even though you have already submitted an application online, there will be more paperwork required to make the adoption official. You will need to complete all of the required adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE. Adoption Fees: Why aren't rescue dogs free? Because it takes a lot of time and money to get them to our rescue, vetted and ready for adoption. You are not paying a fee for the puppy, but rather a fee for all of money that went into the dog to get it to us, fostered, vetted and ready for adoption. The graphic below shows where our fee comes from and why the price is set where it is. Puppies (6 months and under)* $575 – This includes age appropriate shots, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance Our puppies are not going to be fixed since research shows that fixing them before 5-6 months is detrimental to their health and development. *Adoption fees are subject to change at any time. Adult Dogs (over 6 months)* $475 – This price includes all age appropriate shots, the spay/neuter, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance. *Adoption fees are subject to change at any time.
