My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lab mix | 6 years | Female | 57 lbs | Owner Surrender
*We cannot guarantee breed nor age.

Temperament: Sweet! Affectionate! Playful!
Activity level: Moderate energy. Happy to relax and chill at home during the day with the occasional spurts of energy but also loves to go for walks and play when offered.
Vetting: Rabies, dh2pp, Lepto and bordetella vaccines up to date. Microchipped and fecal tested. 4dx negative for tick related diseases and also negative for heartworm disease. Bella has food allergies and possibly environmental allergies. She eats a specific hypoallergenic food which has completely regulated her allergies since coming into our care. She also receives Cytopoint when needed for environmental allergies. The vet is very happy with her progress and improvement since coming into the rescue. Bella is in great body condition and is so very good at the vet.
Housebroken: Yes!
Good with Dogs: Yes! Very friendly and happy to calmly greet and sniff other dogs of all sizes when she meets them.
Good with Cats: Not formally tested but would likely be okay with slow introductions.
Good with Children: Yes!
Any noted prey drive: None observed - does not try to chase or pull towards other animals.
How do they respond to the outdoors: Loves being outside! Loves her walks whether rain, snow or shine! Does fine walking on busy streets.
Crate Trained: Yes!
Any resource guarding: Observed on one occasion where she guarded a toy from another dog while out on a walk. Allows her fosters to handle her food bowls without issues. She has not had any incidences of guarding toys from humans.
Response to commands: Knows “sit”, “down”, “stay” and “paw”. Learning “drop it”, “heel” and “off”.
Are they vocal: Typically very quiet and will bark infrequently. She will softly whimper when excited and wants to see you.
Leash Etiquette: Walks pretty well on known routes but can get excited walking someplace new and will pull strongly as she likes to explore and sniff. Her fosters are working on training to manage her pulling better and have seen significant improvement using a Gentle Leader.
Transportation: Travels well in the car and enjoys looking out the window. Not tested on public transit.
*Bella’s bio may change as we get to know her better.

Meet Bella! She is as beautiful as her name! Bella loves her walks in all kinds of weather and loves to play with her toys with you when at home. She is totally fine being a big city girl and is chill with all the sights and sounds of busy streets. Though she can pull on leash she is working on leash manners but knows to stay when she is asked before crossing the road. She certainly struts her stuff in her winter booties! Having learned to accept them to protect her precious paws from salty city sidewalks. Bella is also learning not to jump up when she’s excited to see her people. She is a smart cookie though! She has already learned to stay in her crate overnight or when left for a few hours without issue. Though she is also non-destructive when out of her crate. Bella will win your heart when she gives you her paw to “hold hands” or rolls onto her back for belly rubs!

Bella has food allergies and possibly environmental allergies as well. She has been responding very well to treatment since coming into our care. Her allergies are now completely regulated and under control from her specific hypoallergenic diet, which she exclusively eats, along with the occasional Cytopoint injection for her environmental allergies. Though we have to note, even though she no longer requires baths or other medications for her skin, she is an absolute ANGEL and a total superstar about accepting these things without any fuss!

Bella is a big sweetheart and would love a home with an active family where she can get a couple of walks a day along with lots of playtime and cuddles! Bella would also be an excellent hiking companion to join on your outdoor adventures. She’s also the perfect Netflix buddy for when you binge-watch your favourite show all evening on the couch. Bella would likely do best as the only pet or with one other pup in her forever home, so she can get lots of attention and love from her family. Bella is the biggest sweetie and has such a wonderful demeanour! She will love to spend as much time as possible with her new family and has so much love and affection to share with those around her.
