My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Dalton is just a big ol' lap dog 🙂. He has been in a shelter for most of his life and until recently, has had no interaction with other dogs. Shelter staff from years ago labeled him as not good with dogs, though there was no socializing back then. We have recently attempted to socialize him with other dogs, but we haven’t been successful. What he is is a people dog. He loves to play ball and is so eager to please people. But perhaps his favorite activity is being doted on by the humans he loves. Dalton gives the best big bear hugs! He just needs a chance to show how awesome he is!
Dalton does guard his resources such as food and toys so probably would do better in a home with older children and no other pets. Please apply to meet Dalton. Once your application is approved we'll contact you to come visit him!

More about this shelter

CARA -- Community Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc., is a No Kill animal shelter located in Jackson, MS, that cares for an average of 160 animals daily. We do not receive any funding from the city, county, state or federal government and operate exclusively through the generosity of our community by private donations from individuals, businesses, & fundraising events. Our primary goals are to place our adoptable pets in loving, caring homes and to educate the public on responsible pet ownership including why spay/neuter is so important. Please donate to our cause and volunteer as we strive to better the lives of pets in Mississippi.
