My story

Edna is a 3 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, which accounts for her gorgeous coat! She is a loyal and active dog. She does does great off leash and is an excellent running partner. She is fine with a 20-30 minute walk once a day if she's able to get out on an adventure 2-3 times a week.

Edna is a loyal dog and is also protective of her home and family. Soon after a recent big move, Edna had a bite incident with a neighbor. It was not severe. After that incident, her veterinarian recommended she start Prozac. Since being on the Prozac (over 6 months now) she has exceedingly improved.

Because of her anxiety with new people entering the house, we would like to place her in a home without a lot of visitors (or kids). She also isn't the dog that will 'go everywhere with you.' She would like to go for walks, hikes and adventures but then go home to cuddle.

Edna is treat motivated and loves to train and learn! Her ideal home would be someone who is experienced with positive reinforcement training.

She is great with other dogs. Cats unknown. No apartments. Fenced in yard required.

More about this rescue

We are a local, non-profit organization based out of Kitsap County that rescues adoptable dogs and cats that may not thrive in the shelter environment and simply need a good home and a little training and TLC to make them great pets. Additionally, KARE provides education programs, benefiting the community by helping to reduce or eliminate behaviors in at-risk dogs that cause pets to be relinquished in the first place.
